Top 14 Cool and Unique Hotels in Denver

Denver was named the third most hip city in the USA, and I personally think that its incredible array of hipster-friendly hotels has much to do with this title! From quirky boutiques to shiny and modern, here are my favorite spots in the city…

1. Thompson Hotel

Thompson Hotel Lounge

The sleek gem in the heart of LoDo wowed me! I loved that the urban chalet vibe, designed by Parts + Labor, blends mid-century modern lines with local materials like wood and stone.

The lobby’s fireplaces and exposed wood beams also created a super cozy mountain cabin feel!

My room was allergy-free and luxurious, with floor-to-ceiling windows offering superb mountain views. It also had air conditioning, a comfy bed, and a flat-screen TV. Other amenities like a fitness center, and valet parking, and it’s pet-friendly too – bonus!

I tried Chez Maggy, by Michelin-starred chef Ludo Lefebvre, and became a fan of the classic French and global fusion menu, which is available from breakfast to dinner!

For a more laid-back vibe, I highly recommend visiting the sixth-floor bar and lounge for delicious drinks and stunning mountain views. Overall, in my opinion, this is a rare blend of comfort and unique style!

One of my favorite spots is a 4-star gem located downtown across from the Performing Arts Center. Close to attractions and the city’s creative hub, I loved that I was within walking distance of shopping and gourmet dining options too!

The design was a striking and vibrant pop-culture theme, the vibe was funky and youthful and the staff were friendly and attentive.

My funky and eclectically styled room came with an equally unique bathroom complete with a rain shower as well as a work area, an LCD TV, and free WiFi but my favorite highlight was seeing the Rockies from my window! I would recommend booking a room on the highest floors for the best mountain views!

Other amenities include The Corner Office Restaurant + Martini Bar which offers a global menu, a fitness center, an onsite Starbucks, a cute little gift shop, and an eclectic art collection!

Staying at Rally Hotel at McGregor Square was a special experience, and I especially loved being near the Colorado Padres’ baseball stadium! I was captivated by the decor, which mirrored the Rockies’ hues—lots of blush, blue, purple, brown, and grey! The vibe was laid-back but trendy, and the staff couldn’t do enough for me!

My room had a spacious layout and picturesque views of the mountains, Coors Field, and downtown Denver. Some rooms had private balconies and others were very family friendly.

Nestled in Denver’s vibrant River North Art District (RiNo), the Ramble Hotel is now one of my favorite places! This 4-star spot won me with its creative industrial-chic design inspired by the 17th-century French Salons of Madame Rambouillet, a trendy but low-key vibe, and welcoming staff.

Inside, I found a moody blue palette, crystal chandeliers, rich velvet draperies, unique artwork, hickory floors, and antique Persian rugs. My room had retro-style furniture and distinctive factory-pane windows with garden views.

I was also impressed by their culinary offerings and would highly recommend trying a “Death at the Diso” cocktail at their on-site bar, Death & Co., as well as checking out the quirky eatery, which offered fun Pan-Latin cuisine, and their fabulous “Garden” restaurant, which served up tasty American-style food.

Ramble Hotel’s location in the heart of RiNo was a bonus as it was near the Colorado Convention Center, Great Divide Brewing, Coors Field, The Source, and LoDo.

If you’re seeking a special resort that embraces the stunning Colorado scenery away from the city buzz, then I personally think this spot is a great option!

Located just ten minutes from Denver Airport in Aurora, it became one of my favorite places in the area – it offered a modern, fun, and relaxing escape from the ordinary!

My room came with rustic-chic decor with wilderness-inspired artwork, and my favorite, superb mountain views! It came with a separate workspace, and the room service was fantastic for breakfast in bed or a midnight snack. Amenities included a luxury spa, salon, gym, tennis courts, and indoor and outdoor waterpark.

I explored various dining options, including The Old Hickory Steakhouse, which served locally sourced food and fine wines; Monte Jade, which served Asian fusion cuisine; and The Arapahoe Springs Bar & Grill, which was by the outdoor pool and offered drinks, cocktails, and a dinner menu of US favorites.

I particularly loved Pinyon’s bar in the Grand Lodge for its creative drinks and The Rockies Marketplace provided healthy meals, fruit, and snacks on the go.

I would suggest also trying their Cocoa Bean coffee house for their range of coffees, bakery items, and sandwiches.

My loft-style room had floor-to-ceiling windows, MCM-style furniture, and free Wi-Fi, and some rooms boasted balconies with city views.

Pour-over coffee makers and workspaces added a thoughtful touch to the rooms. The larger accommodations had separate seating and dining areas, and I suggest taking advantage of the exclusive discounts at nearby businesses.

If you have a family I would highly recommend the bunk bed rooms!
