A great way to exercise and get out outdoors, now more than 24.8 million people play golf in the U.S. If you live in Portland or are just visiting, there are some great options dotted out all over the city. I’m personally a huge golf fan and I’ve visited many a course. Here are some of my favorite places to play golf in Portland, Oregon…
1. Colwood Golf Center – a sporty complex with an 18-hole golf course
Located a few miles from Portland International Airport in downtown Portland, Colwood Golf Center is a sports complex featuring an 18-hole golf course, footgolf area, driving range, and my favorite bit – a bar with a outdoor large patio.
The golf course features holes that range from 76 to 200 yards and plays up to 1,200 yards.
Colwood Golf Center is the ultimate destination for golf outings. It is open every day between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.

2. Heron Lakes Golf Club – features two championship courses
Heron Lakes Golf Club is a sports complex that offers a perfect blend of all Pacific Northwest golf courses.
The complex features two two championship golf courses, namely Jr: the Great Blue Course and the Greenback Course.
Both courses are designed by Robert Trent Jones, a well-known golf course architect who designed and redesigned more than 500 golf courses in the country. The sports complex also boasts a lake situated amidst beautiful verdure.
Heron Lakes Golf Club is open every day between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.

3. Eastmoreland Golf Course – Oregon’s second oldest golf course
Eastmoreland Golf Course is the second oldest golf course in the state of Oregon. The golf course occupies 138.5 acres of natural land featuring parks and gardens. It was designed by Chandler Egan, a former national amateur golf champion and well-known golf course architect.
Eastmoreland Golf Course also has a pro shop and restaurant serving fine food. You can also have golf lessons at Eastmoreland Golf Course. It is open daily between 6:30 a.m. and 8 p.m.

4. Columbia Edgewater Country Club – a private golf course that offers year round play
Columbia Edgewater Country Club is a private golf club that hosts professional golf tours including PGA Tour and LPGA Tour.
Columbia Edgewater Country Club features an 18-hole golf course that accommodates golfers of all levels of ability. It also has an outdoor pool, fitness center, and event spaces.
The golf course was designed by Vernon Macan, one of the most prolific golf course architects of the Pacific Northwest. I’m personally a big fan of the very green, well kept landscapes.

5. Glendoveer Golf & Tennis – a golf facility with 36 holes and a driving range
Glendoveer Golf & Tennis is a sports complex with a 36-hole golf course and four indoor tennis courts. The complex also has a seasonal footgolf area.
Glendoveer features long walkways fringed with lush greenery. From running to strolling to birding, there is a wide range of outdoor activities that you can indulge in at Glendoveer Golf & Tennis.
You’ll have to bring your own food as the complex does not feature an eatery.

6. Waverley Country Club – offers terrific views and challenging play
Waverley Country Club is a private riverfront golf club that offers excellent practice facilities and year-round playability. It is one of the oldest golf clubs in the Pacific Northwest that promotes amateur golf and I love the scenic views here.
Waverley also features a classy clubhouse with high ceilings. It has an elegant eatery serving great food. The country club also offers golf lessons and accommodates golfers of all levels of ability. It is open on all days of the week between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.

7. Claremont Golf Club – is a very special golf course established over 60 years
Claremont Golf Club features a 9-hole golf course that spans across 3,068 yards. The golf course has an interesting layout with two par-5s and two par-3s. The course also features risk-reward doglegs and small ponds on some holes.
From amateurs to professional golfers, Claremont Golf Club accommodates golf players of all levels. It is a perfect place to learn golf in an exciting atmosphere.
Claremont Golf Club is a family-friendly destination with well-groomed fairways and exquisite vegetation. The golf club is open every day between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m.

8. Rose City Golf Course – the second oldest municipal course in the city and state
Rose City Golf Course is a sports club featuring an 18-hole golf course that spans across 6,520 yards. The course is skirted by magnificent verdure and has a calm ambience.
Rose City also has a golf pro shop on-site as well. Hank Childs Golf Shop features an excellent selection of golf equipment and accessories including golf apparel, fairway metals, and balls among others. Rose City Grill has an excellent breakfast menu, lunch specials, and a standing menu of appetizers.
The elegant eatery offers both indoor and outdoor seating.
Rose City Golf Course is open every day to the public from 5:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

9. Portland Golf Club – a prestigious Oregon Golf Club
Portland Golf Club is a golf facility featuring a golf course and clubhouse. It is one of the best places to play gold in suburban Portland.
Nestled in the prestigious Raleigh Hills, Portland Golf Club features Herculean fir trees, dazzling herbage, and well-trimmed gardens. It is a beautiful oasis that offers a wonderful golfing experience in a pristine climate.
Portland Golf Club has a large event space and hosts quarterly professional golf events. It is open to the public Tuesdays through Saturdays between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.

10. Birdie Time Pub and Mini Golf – a dog-friendly mini golf pub
Birdie Time Pub and Mini Golf is an entertainment facility where you can play a wide range of free games in an indoor setting.
Birdie Time Pub and Mini Golf has a 9-hole mini-golf course and an indoor game area with a bunch of big screens for watching sports. It is a dog-friendly establishment with a vibrant ambience. It has a classy bar serving eclectic pub fare and craft cocktails.
Birdie Time Pub and Mini Golf is open to the public Mondays through Thursdays at different timings, mostly between 4 p.m. and 10 p.m. On weekends, the place stays open from 12 p.m. to 12 a.m.

11. Eagle Landing Golf Course – ?Eagle Landing’s scenic Miniature Golf Courses
Eagle Landing Golf Course is a golf facility featuring picturesque miniature golf courses, a beautiful European-style golf course, and a soccer golf area.
Whether you are an avid golfer or play the sport occasionally, you can have a fantastic golfing experience at Eagle Landing Golf Course. It has a 27-hole golf course with each hole ranging between 40 and 90 yards.
The facility also has a 36-hole mini golf course bordered by beautiful trees, fountains, and waterfalls.

12. Riverside Golf & Country Club – a redeveloped golf center with a 9-hole course and mini-golf
Riverside is a full-service country club featuring a classic 18-hole golf course designed by William F. Bell. The golf course is located a few miles from downtown Portland and has a unique layout suitable for both amateurs and professional golfers.
It is a family-friendly venue with an upscale eatery serving excellent seafood and authentic American cuisine
. Riverside Golf & Country Club is open to the public every day at different times, mostly between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m.

13. McMenamins Edgefield Golf Course – said to be America’s funkiest golf facility
McMenamins Edgefield Golf Course has two 3-par courses, namely the West Course and the East Course. The West Course has 20 holes and the East Course has 12 holes.
The courses are located inside the McMenamins Edgefield resort which also features restaurants, a hotel, a brewery, and a distillery. You can spend an entire weekend at this hilly destination, enjoying good food and playing golf.
McMenamins Edgefield Golf Course is open to the public daily between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.

14. Pier Park Disc Golf Course – a beautiful golf course located in a city park
The Pier Park Disc Golf Course is an 18-hole course bordered by towering Douglas fir and red cedar and makes the place that little bit special.
The layout of Pier Park Disc Golf Course is suitable for amateurs. Nestled in an evergreen forest, Pier Park Disc Golf Course features a bunch of elevation changes. It is open to the public every day from 5 a.m. to 12 a.m.
