Although it’s relatively small, the UK has a huge number of fabulously remote places known for their naturally rugged beauty. So if you’re curious to see what inspirational untamed places this small Isle has to offer read on. Here are 5 beautiful dog-friendly places to visit in the UK…
Oban and the Isles, Argyllshire, Scotland
The City of Oban is a lively place especially in the summer, set amidst some of the most beautiful scenery that Scotland and rest of the UK, has to offer. Take in lochs and mountains and enjoy views out towards the many Islands that sit just off the rugged coast.

We recommend taking a boat from Croabh Haven to get the very best out of a trip to this wonderful remote place. Days at Sea offer sea tours which will take you around the area, where you’ll get some spectacular views of the islands and beyond. Don’t forget to sample some of the regions fabulous fish and seafood too – as fresh as it comes, this stuff simply couldn’t taste any better than it does here.

Late Lettings have a number of fabulous cabins and cottages available as options for accommodation in the area. All are spotlessly clean, cosy and set in the set in the most stunning of locations.
Bullslaughter Bay, Pembrokeshire, Wales
The county of Pembrokeshire is a true place of natural beauty. Its craggy and dramatic coastline imprints itself in the hearts of anyone who goes there and we love how uncrowded this places feels, even at high season. It’s also a very dog friendly place in the UK to explore.

The dramatic rock formations in Bullslaughter Bay give it the untainted feel of a true place of natural beauty. It’s a good spot for climbing and for surfing, though we think the trip is well worth it even if you just want to walk amongst the impressive features of the landscape. Guillemots and Razorbills are easily spotted on the cliffs from May through until the beginning of August and there any many wonderful species of coastal plants to be found in the area too. For more information about the rock climbing see here and for more information about surfing see Activity Pembrokeshire list providers of surfing lessons in Pembrokeshire.

We like checking out local Farm-stays in the area for an alternative and fun place to spend your holiday or short break.
Yorkshire Dales, England
At this time of year, the Yorkshire Dales look more inviting than ever. A really short distance from some of the North’s major cities, the Dales still retain their own sense of magnitude and remoteness.

Hiring bikes is a brilliant way to take in the best of the Dales, plus you’ll cover more countryside than you could manage on foot. The Dales Bike Centre offer very reasonable hire, though of course if you have bikes you could always bring your own. Our favourite route takes you from Skipton towards Bolton Abbey and onto Wharfdale, whilst providing fantastic scenery. It then follows quiet roads along a lovely valley all the way to Grassington, before heading back in a circular route. There is one long climb towards the end before a fun downhill run back into Skipton. For further details of bike hire see here. Whilst for details of this route and others see here.

Accommodation is simple if you’re not looking for anything fancy as the Dales Bike Centre also offer hostel-style beds to those who wish to stay with them. Otherwise, the area is home to many fantastic hotels and friendly B&B’s.
The Rumps, Polzeath, Cornwall, England
This wonderful chunk of rugged headland proudly juts out into the Atlantic Ocean on the north coast of Cornwall. It’s a true piece of wild Britain and is home to many species of flora and fauna which both you and your dog will love.
Explore…
The best and only way to explore the Rumps is on foot. A wonderful circular walk begins in the town of Polzeath and heads out along the coast path in the direction of the headland. Follow the coast path all the way along the winding path, before continuing on to Pentire point and on to the Rumps Point. Once you’re there it’s up to you how high you want to climb but we recommend climbing at least one of the two mounds to get the best, uninterrupted views. You’ll be able to see The Mouls, a tiny island just off the coast, which is a breeding ground for puffins and other seabirds and you might just spot seals and dolphins swimming in the waves below.

Luxury holiday cottage company, Latitude 50 has a handful of exclusive cottages to rent in Polzeath and the surrounding area. All of them have fabulous views over the beach, gorgeous interiors and put you in a great position for exploring the Rumps with its unmatched beauty, and beyond.
New Forest, Dorset, England
Covering an area of over 500 square kilometres the New Forest is one of South East England’s largest patches of unenclosed pastureland. It is home to many herds of wild ponies along with some rare species of plants and wildlife, such as the sand lizard and the great crested newt.
Stay at…
Although wild and full of nature the New Forest is a very safe place to camp, so we recommend looking up one of the handfuls of excellent campsites in the area. What better way to enjoy this unspoilt swathe of woodland than by sleeping amidst the trees and waking up to the sound of birdsong? We can’t think of one…
