Freedom. That is probably the word that expresses the sensation bests, we will all have, once we get on a plane again, to discover new destinations. But excited is the sensation we will certainly all feel, even as we start preparing the luggage. To tempt you, we thought we would suggest three destinations, far away from each other: Orlando (USA) to raise the adrenaline, Beijing for a complete change of scenery and London (UK) for some nighttime action.

The joy of planning
Not everyone are planners. However, after such a long year, with nothing to plan (in our personal lives), it is fair to assume that everyone will really enjoy preparing their next trip. Especially with the great deals that are offered today, to get the industry back and running. There will be opportunities like never before, on airline tickets, hotels and entertainment activities, as well. The hardest decision will be to choose in which direction to go! Will it be the new world (America), the rising power (China) or the reassuring presence of a city we all know well: London (UK). Of course, it is all up to you. But here is why we chose these destinations.
Orlando: for kids and the young at heart
First, let’s get one thing out of the way: You don’t need kids to enjoy a trip to Orlando. You only have to become one, again, for a few days. And if you do go as a family, then you can be sure everyone is going to have the time of their life. There isn’t an ounce of possibility that you won’t open your heart to the magic of the Walt Disney World and its four amusement parks. That’s because it was built to bring joy and fantasy, to people from all ages and all cultures.
In fact, start by heading to EPCOT, the theme park centered on the world and its future. Enjoy rides like Mission Space or Ratatouille, in which you will end-up being chased, as if you were the famous mouse in the movie of the same name. Take the time to walk the park and discover boutiques related to the various parts of the world. EPCOT is certainly the best park of the four, for adults, but children will love it just the same. The three other parks are: Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom and the most famous one, featuring the Disney castle: The Magic Kingdom.
More in Florida
There are many more amusement parks to visit, while in Orlando. At the very least, you need to go for a stroll on the Universal Studio City Walk, to get a taste of the atmosphere, if not a bite, in one of its many great restaurants. But you should also enjoy the State itself and its amazing weather. To do so, rent a car and head west for a day. In less than an hour and a half, you will find yourself in beautiful, sunny, Tampa Bay. To enjoy the beach, head to Clearwater, and plant your feet in the sand. There aren’t many days of the year when the water isn’t warm enough to take a swim, so no matter when you head to Orlando, be sure to bring your bathing suit.
Beijing: for something unique and different
Maybe you have been to Hong Kong, and you have a certain vision of China, because of it. Then, it is time to forget all you think you know about this country. Hong Kong used to be a British colony. And so, heading to this magnificent city was still somewhat comparable to other world centers. What awaits you in Beijing, can’t be compared. Even those who have traveled the world extensively still get a little confused, when they land in the Chinese capital. But as the surrounding starts to sink in, the sense of the unknown becomes a unique characteristic that will remain as something exquisite in all tourists that visit Beijing, forever.
There aren’t many places in the world where you won’t get by, speaking English. Beijing is one of them. Take out your electronic translator when you want to communicate with people. Otherwise, it may get complicated rapidly. If you need to get a cab, walk into a hotel and ask the reception desk or the concierge to call you one. If you try to hail one on the street, chances are they will pass you by, if you are not Chinese. These are the complexities of this immense city, which features seven ring roads, around it. But once you are passed the shock, you will discover some of the most beautiful places in all your travel.
Palaces, a great wall…and amazing food
The Forbidden City and the Summer Palace are sufficient reasons to fly a plane for twelve hours, or more, and visit Beijing. The grandeur and nobility of the first will penetrate you and help you understand why the Chinese civilisation is the only remaining from the original ones. Then, a visit to the Summer Palace will transport you to a world of beauty, as you stroll by lakes and through small hills, discovering the various constructions on site. While in Beijing, you need to book a tour to the Great Wall. There are simply no words to describe the sensation you will get, once on top of it. Finally, if there is one thing you will miss from Beijing; it is the food. As spicy as it can get, it will burn its flavours into your palate, so that you can recall and dream about it, for years afterwards.
London: the city that seems to have it all
London is somewhat the opposite of Beijing. Wherever you are from, it will quickly become a second home to you. There aren’t that many cities in the world, as friendly and welcoming as London. And there is so much to do, that you will never get bored, no matter how many times you come back; which you are bound to do, if you have visited it once.
You should start by walking through the city. Get to one end (East or West) and start heading into the other direction. You can stroll for days in London, still uncovering new quarters, featuring sublime architecture. Try not being dazzled by the marvel of the UK Parliament. Its intricacies will delight your eyes, as you walk along the Thames River. It is but one of the architectural delights that you will cross, as you move from one point to another, in this marvelous city.
As great as discovering London is, during the daytime, the real magic of London comes, as the sun goes down. During the week, pubs starts filling up, when work is done. In this city, the beer flows, as soon as happy hour comes around, and it doesn’t stop, until everyone gets to bed (which can be the early hours of morning). That’s because there are so many things to do at night. Catch a musical, a live concert or go dancing…but whatever you do, don’t stay locked in your hotel room. You would be missing the real fun part of London. Truly: That is when the city comes alive.
