Wherever you stay, you will live the fairy tale in the utopia-like capital of Copenhagen. From my many trips to this elegant city (one of my favorite cities in the world!) and staying and trying out many hotels, here is the final collection of my favorites…
1. Hotel Axel
I loved this eco-friendly boutique located in the hip Vesterbro area. The design is Scandi chic with a hint of exotic Balinese and a trendy and romantic vibe. The staff were helpful but not too intrusive.
My room had a wooden four-poster bed, hardwood floors, art, and modern conveniences like free WiFi, a wall-mounted TV, and free cable channels. Some had balconies, and I highly recommend a garden view if available!
My highlights included the all-organic restaurant, which served breakfast (the freshly baked bread was my favourite!) and evening meals, the funky bar, the zen-like courtyard garden, the loaner bike service, and the atmospheric candlelit spa with a sauna, steam bath, hot tub, and organic products.

2. Manon Les Suites
This is an all-suite 5-star hotel in the city centre near Vesterport train station. The design is trendy, unique, and eye-catching, and I thought the vibe was relaxed but upbeat.
The stunning atrium had an indoor swimming pool and lashings of greenery, and the staff was friendly and approachable. My stylish suite, with a four-poster bed, exuded a “Hygge” vibe. If you’re staying longer, I recommend opting for a suite with a kitchenette.
A tasty, all-organic breakfast was available for a fee. My other highlights included the sauna, gym, funky cafe, and the rooftop Asian fusion organic restaurant overseen by Michelin-star chef Nan Kanokwan Kortaisong. I recommend dining on the Vegan seaweed caviar while gazing at the views of the city’s lakes!

3. Carlton 66 Guldsmeden
I loved this eco-friendly boutique hotel located in trendy Vesterbro. The design is very striking, mixing a contemporary Scandi-chic style with boho and exotic Balinese features. The staff was very attentive!
My dreamy room featured a romantic wooden four-poster bed, hardwood floors, modern amenities, and organic toiletries. Some rooms are compact, so I would suggest upgrading to a larger room if possible, and some even offer balconies.
I started my day with an all-organic breakfast offered at the on-site 66 Cantina. Light snacks were also served throughout the day, along with a bar that served great cocktails.
I highly recommend their organic open-faced sandwiches! Another stand-out feature was their on-site Airstream retro campervans, which you can stay in as an alternative option!

4. CPH Living
This unique floating hotel is moored in a prime location on the Port of Copenhagen. It has a typical Danish design and the vibe was relaxed and low-key. This is an affordable option, and I found it was decorated to a mid-range level.
My room/cabin had minimalistic decor with hard wooden floors and my favorite, the large floor-to-ceiling windows so I could gaze at the water the whole time I was in there. Other amenities included a workspace, heated floors, and a flat-screen TV. The large communal seating area was great for connecting with other guests.
My favourite features were its geothermal heating system, the rooftop terrace with relaxing sun loungers, and the loaner bike service. I’d also recommend taking advantage of the free coffee available from their reception area all day!

5. 25hours Hotel C Indre By
This central 4-star boutique is located near the iconic Nyhavn harbor! The interiors, designed by London-based Martin Brudnizki Design Studio, are unique and vibrant, with a striking blend of colors and vintage prints. The vibe was trendy but friendly, and so were the staff!
My themed room featured sloping roofs, large windows, lots of funky design details, and modern amenities. If available, I suggest opting for a room with a terrace or a garden!
I dined at the Mediterranean restaurant on-site (I recommend the Aubergine from the Charcoal Grill), sipped cocktails at the bar, enjoyed live music at the trendy Boilerman Bar, and then took a relaxing sauna.
Aside from the loaner e-bikes, my favourite feature was the Vinyl Room, where you can spin records from the 1980s!

6. Scandic CPH Strandpark
This is in a quiet waterside location near Oresund Bridge, the city, and the airport. Inside I discovered a zen-like tranquility and a typical minimalistic chic Scandinavian design and the staff were always keen to help.
My stylish room had large windows with sea views and a Chromecast TV. There was also a modern gym, a buffet breakfast, and a restaurant that offered a menu focused on healthy and sustainable options—although I’d highly recommend the Danish organic fries! The lobby bar and Goody coffee shop catered to all my snack needs.
My favorite highlight was the rooftop Skybar, which featured a great range of drinks, indoor and outdoor seating, and breathtaking 360-degree views. I also loved the modern spa with a plunge pool, sauna, and steam bath.
I highly recommend renting a kayak from the hotel and exploring the beckoning waters!

7. Babette Guldsmeden
This eco-friendly 4-star boutique hotel is in the heart of the city’s most historic area near The Little Mermaid. The design is Scandi chic with exotic Balinese-inspired touches and cosy nooks and crannies. The vibe is trendy but informal, the service was personalised.
My unique room had hard wooden floors, a romantic wooden 4-poster bed, original artwork, and organic toiletries. Some of the rooms were very compact, so I’d suggest a superior double as these offer more space.
Other stand-out features were a serene orangery and a courtyard, Babette’s Feast restaurant with organic and locally sourced cuisine (I recommend the fresh pike fillet with nettle sauce!), the organic wine and cocktail bar, and the fabulous rooftop spa, home to a sauna, a daring cold-water bucket bath, an aromatic steam bath, and views!

8. 71 Nyhavn
This 5-star boutique is tucked away in Nyhavn’s famous District. The overall feel is very much typical of “hygge,” but with some nautical nostalgia and stylish Scandi design details, too.
I stayed in a room in the Red Warehouse (the older of the two), which featured characterful wood beams, a luxury bed, a Nespresso Machine, cosy bathrobes, and a turndown service. Some even offer sublime harbour views, and some rooms were very compact, so I’d highly recommend booking an east-facing Junior Suite, so you have more space to see the impressive sunrise.
I ate an organic breakfast washed down with fair trade coffee in their old warehouse cellar dining room (I highly recommend the homemade pancakes with hazelnut butter!) and tried their creative cocktail list, too.
My favourite highlight was trying their personal guide service and renting a bike to explore the city, which was right on my doorstep!

9. Bryggen Guldsmeden
I was a huge fan of this 4-star boutique. The design was Nordic-meets-Bali, which created a luxurious vibe without feeling pretentious, and the staff couldn’t do enough to help.
One of my favourite parts was the zen-like courtyard garden, which had cabanas and a heated swimming pool. My guest room was also dreamy, with hard wooden floors, a four-poster bed, and floaty fabrics. It came with organic toiletries and hypoallergenic linens. Some rooms were very compact, so I suggest opting for a bigger one if you can.
Other amenities included a 24-hour concierge service, a fitness center, a cosy restaurant serving French-inspired cuisine (I’d recommend the seagrass caviar!), an organic buffet breakfast with plenty of vegetarian options (I loved their acacia honey!), a trendy bar, a shared lounge, a steam room, and that Nordic essential—a sauna!

10. Coco Hotel
This is an elegant, 4-star, eco-friendly boutique in the trendy Vesterbro neighborhood. It has a unique style that blends Parisian charm with a Danish aesthetic and a sleek, upscale vibe with attentive staff to match!
My room was decorated in their signature blue and white style and came with flatscreen TVs with cable channels, a large bed, a well-designed workstation, and exciting wall art! I would recommend booking a room or suite on a higher floor for sloping windows and stunning views of the city skyline.
I started the day with a light Pain au chocolat breakfast at Cafe Coco, which was washed down with “Slayer Expressos,” it also offered organic lighter bites in the day. I suggest you don’t leave without trying their wine bar, which has a choice of over 30 wines, including organic options. I was also a big fan of sitting in their courtyard and sipping cocktails! Bliss!

11. Hotel SP34
This 4-star rated boutique is located in the trendy centrally located Latin Quarter. Inside, I loved the elegant and eye-catching decor, with light wood and designer furniture lashings, all accented by plenty of greenery. The vibe was hip but friendly, and the staff were too!
My Nordic-inspired soundproofed room had hardwood floors, designer toiletries, and a cable TV. I recommend taking advantage of their quirky nightcap service! Some rooms are very compact, so I suggest opting for a larger one if you can.
They served an organic breakfast with gluten-free and vegan options, and I was a huge fan of their homemade smoothies. Their bar specialised in port wine and organic lager. I highly recommend attending their sociable nightly ‘wine hour’ from 5-6 p.m.
Other standout highlights were the choice of three stylish restaurants, a rooftop terrace, and my personal favorite, an in-house retro-style cinema!

12. The Alexandra Hotel
I was a big fan of this eco-friendly, centrally located boutique near Tivoli Gardens. Its unique midcentury modern interiors captured the essence of the 1950s and 1960s. The vibe was hip but laid-back, and the staff was trendy, too!
My large soundproofed room had an individual Danish design inspired by famous 20th-century designers. It came with hardwood floors, retro furniture, and an iPod dock. If you can afford it, I’d recommend booking the impressive Collector’s Suite for the incredible design and garden views!
Other hotel highlights included the self-serve Honesty Bar (I loved this cute touch!). Vietnamese cuisine was served at Le Le Street Kitchen, which was attached to the hotel for dining and breakfast. Try their mint lemonade! I also became a fan of the Tiger Bar, which served champagne and creative cocktails.

13. Andersen Boutique
This 4-star affordable boutique Hotel is located in trendy Vesterbro near the buzzy Meatpacking District. The award-winning Designers Guild designed the retro-inspired design with funky patterns and vibrant colors. The vibe was fun but relaxed, with friendly staff.
My good-sized, soundproofed, retro-styled room had a hardwood floor, a coffee machine, Molton Brown toiletries, and a TV with cable channels. Although some offered courtyard views, I would suggest booking a street view for the incredible people-watching opportunities!
Other highlights included their loaner bikes service, cute courtyard outdoor seating, the bar that served handcrafted cocktails, the hearty buffet breakfast, and complimentary Nespresso coffees.
I would also highly recommend participating in their fun nightly wine hour, as it was a great way to meet other guests!

14. Hotel Sanders
This 5-star boutique enjoys a buzzy central location. I loved the classic Danish design with retro-chic touches and the vibe, which was trendy and sophisticated with exceptional service.
My guest room was equally chic, with thoughtful touches and comforts like luxurious beds, air conditioning, flat-screen TVs, and organic toiletries. They even provide slippers and kimonos for that extra touch of luxury! Standard rooms are compact, so I suggest upgrading rooms if you can!
Sanders Kitchen offers Mediterranean cuisine with healthy, veggie, and vegan options from locally sourced, seasonal ingredients.
I highly recommend the Creamy pearl barley for dinner and Avocado toast washed down with green juice for breakfast! Other highlights include the courtyard garden, the on-site cocktail bar, and the Rooftop Conservatory, which has lush greenery and superb city views.

15. Tivoli Hotel
This 4-star themed hotel is affiliated with the famous amusement park, Tivoli Gardens, so I think it’s perfect for families and couples. It has a superb central location near attractions, and the design is colourful, stylish, and whimsical, and the vibe is fun and upbeat.
My room had a typical Scandi design, with soundproofing, free WiFi, flat-screen TVs with satellite channels, a minibar, and a city view. Some lower-priced rooms are very compact, so I recommend a higher-priced one if you can afford it.
Other stand-out features included an indoor swimming pool, a large fitness centre, indoor and outdoor play areas for children, the zen-like Columbine gardens, three restaurants, and two sky bars with awe-inspiring panoramic city views. I recommend taking an Instagram-worthy selfie against the eye-catching Harlequin wall before leaving!

Some of these hotels are seriously beautiful! I would love to visit them all one day but to start with I would with numner 1 and 8 first!
