Travel competition: win a trip to Cape Town or Rio de Janeiro!

Let’s face it we all find winter a bit of drag, those woefully short days and awfully long dark evenings can really take its toll. Well now the folks at Lottoland are offering a solution to all that misery, they’ve organised a fantastic prize draw to offer one lucky reader a chance to swap cold, grey days for endless sunshine in an exotic destination such as Cape Town or Rio de Janerio in their Passport to Paradise Holiday prize draw (and if those don’t take your fancy there are also plenty of great destination alternatives such as Orlando, Cancun, New York, Dublin, Paris, Barcelona or Rome)…

Reasons to love Rio de Janerio

Rio beach Brazil

  • The weather in Rio is usually fantastic and the city boasts around 2181 hours of annual sunshine.
  • The Brazilian capital proudly hosts the largest street party in the world, the world-famous Rio carnival!
  • The beaches are world-renowned too!
  • You can see the iconic Christ the Redeemer monument.
  • Want to relax and party at the same time? You can at the famous Copacabana resort.
  • The city is famous for its glamorous and beautiful people!
  • Nature lovers can also explore the nearby mountains and beautiful national parks.

Why Cape Town makes a fabulous winter getaway

Cape Town Sunset

  • It’s one of the most beautiful cities in the world.
  • You can take a cable car ride to the top of the famous Table Mountain.
  • It has a funky, cosmopolitan vibe with great bars and restaurants.
  • And of course, there’s the beaches and the surfing!
  • There are many important historic monuments to explore.
  • It’s home to an abundance of gorgeous natural scenery such as forests, nature reserves and botanical gardens
  • It also makes a great base to explore other fantastic areas such as the Winelands of Stellenbosch and Franschhoek and the whale-watching activities in Hermanus.

How to enter the competition

We can’t think of a better way to inject a bit of excitement into one of the most boring times of the year. If you agree then here’s how to enter…

  • Head over to the Passport to Paradise competition page
  • Click the green “Opt-in” button on the Passport page and then register for an account (and be verified which just takes a few minutes).
  • Go back to the Passport to Paradise competition page to select the ‘boarding pass’ for either Mega Sena/Rio or SA Lotto/Capetown.
  • When you’ve selected the lottery of your choice then go to the Cart page where you’ll need to enter either the GRASS promo code to gain a free entry into a holiday prize draw for the Rio de Janeiro trip or HOPPER for a free entry into the prize draw for the Capetown trip. The promo codes can be found beside the little gift icon.
  • Once the promos have been entered the amount payable will then be £0.00, click confirm and your digital ‘passport’ will be ‘stamped’ for the lottery they selected. They will be entered for the next lotto bet and the corresponding holiday prize draw which will take place on Wednesday, December 4th.

Born in England, with a few family roots from Bavaria, and a heart in Scandinavia I've always been a bit of a restless soul. My first true adventure began as a six month voyage around South East Asia as a fresh faced backpacker and ever since I've lived a semi nomadic existence, clocking up over 40 countries on trips and living in Dublin, South East Asia and Australia. I'm a lover of US Road Trips, deserted beaches bathed in warm glow of a sunset, Cuban mojitos, easy-on-the-eye travel destinations far away from the tourist crowds and all things Scandinavian - from cloudberry liquors to Scandi Noirs. When not wandering the world, you'll find me walking my rescue dog in leafy South West London, strolling around the Brighton Laines on random day trips, hunting for photogenic landscapes or daydreaming about returning to my all time favourite places in the world; Havana, Copenhagen, Italy, Thailand and the frozen landscapes of a wintry Iceland. This feels amazing. I would really love to go to Rio-de-Janeiro. I wish I could enter the competition but it is just open for British residents. I think I should start saving money
